Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2020: How to watch and what to expect

In just two days, Samsung will hold what is going to be its busiest Unpacked launch event yet. If we count each device separately in the upcoming flagship Galaxy phone and tablet lineups, the Korean giant is going to unveil six different products on August 5. Seven, if we count the teaser for Samsung’s new foldable phone that is most likely going to be shown once the other devices have been unveiled.

The six devices that Samsung will reveal on Wednesday are the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S7, Galaxy Tab S7+, Galaxy Watch 3, and Galaxy Buds Live. There’s not a lot that we don’t already know about them, thanks to the tremendous amount of leaks and rumors that have hit the internet in recent weeks, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t excited to watch Samsung make it all official.

Unlike previous years, we will also be watching the event online like everyone else, because this particular Unpacked launch is going to take place virtually as a result of the coronavirus pandemic still wreaking havoc the world over. It will be streamed live starting at 10 AM Eastern Time on Wednesday, August 5, and as always, the stream will be available on Samsung’s website, its official YouTube channel, and on Twitter and Facebook. We’ll also have the link for the stream embedded below once it goes live.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S7+, and Galaxy Watch 3 will be the primary highlights

While this edition of Unpacked will have something for everyone, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S7+, and Galaxy Watch 3 will no doubt steal most of the limelight. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra because it’s going to be the new top-of-the-line flagship phone from Samsung for the second half of 2020, the Galaxy Tab S7+ because it’s going to be Samsung’s answer to the Apple iPad Pro, and the Galaxy Watch 3 because, well, it’s bringing back the physical rotating bezel that Samsung last used on a smartwatch two years back.

The Galaxy Buds Live will also have many takers. Samsung’s newest wireless earbuds have a new design and bring active noise cancellation to the table for the first time, although the rumored price tag might make it a tough sell compared to the excellent Galaxy Buds+. The Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Note 20 may have the same problem, as both of those devices are expected to have a number of compromises. The Galaxy Tab S7, for example, is said to feature an LCD display, while the Galaxy Note 20 will miss out on features like the latest Gorilla Glass protection, 120Hz refresh rate, and a microSD slot while commanding a near €1000 price tag.
