Ming-Chi Kuo: Apple AirPods Pro 2 are not coming this year

Apple has brought the AirPods Pro in 2019, but a successor is coming in 2022, the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed. In an investor note, he stated that demand for 2021 is lower than expected, and Apple had to revise its sales forecast to 70-75 million units from 75-85 million. This isn’t the first time we hear about Apple not rushing with the new Pro buds. Bloomberg has already reported the same for 2022, but fans of the Cupertino company should get their fix with regular AirPods coming this fall. As we already reported, the new Apple AirPods 3 will have a shorter stem, new...

Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic leaks in all its glory, rotating bezel in tow

Earlier today we heard that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Watch4 family would have a Classic variant, to join the eponymous Watch4 and the Watch4 Active. Turns out that the device previously known as Watch4 Active could simply be called Watch4 - and we've already seen what it looks like courtesy of some leaked renders. And now it's time for the Galaxy Watch4 Classic to get the same treatment. So here it is in all its "Classic" glory, complete with rotating bezel and two huge buttons on the right. Like the other member(s) of the Watch4 family, the Classic watch will also run Samsung's...

Samsung Galaxy A03s gets Bluetooth certified on its way to the market

Samsung is working on revamping its entry-level model in the A-series, the one that starts with a zero. The Galaxy A03s has already leaked in some detail back in May, and now it's been spotted at the Bluetooth SIG getting the mandatory Bluetooth certification ahead of its launch, which definitely can't be too far off at this point. The phone will have the model number SM-A037F, and a dual-SIM version (ending in "/DS"). It supports Bluetooth 5.0, and that's the extent of the info we get from the Bluetooth SIG about it. The aforementioned leak from May talked about the handset...

Galaxy Z Flip 3 gets extensively revealed in 360-degree videos

Samsung is planning to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 3 next month alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Watch 4. However, we don’t need to wait that long as the upcoming foldable phone’s design has been extensively revealed in newly-leaked videos. This isn’t the first time its design has leaked, though. The Galaxy Z Flip 3’s press render images were first leaked two days ago.

Popular leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) has published 360-degree videos of all the color variants of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 on Twitter. The foldable smartphone appears in four colors—black, gold, olive green, and purple—in the new videos. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 still features a dual-camera setup similar to the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. However, it now comes with a much larger (1.9-inch) cover display instead of a 0.98-inch cover display used by its predecessor.

The leaked videos also showcase the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s side-mounted fingerprint reader, 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O display, SIM card slot, loudspeaker, dual-microphone setup, and the USB Type-C port. There also appears to be a punch-hole-shaped display cutout to accommodate the selfie camera, which means that the phone lacks the rumored under-display camera.

Going by previous reports, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will use the Snapdragon 888+ processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB/512GB storage, and a 3,300mAh battery. The phone will run Android 11 out of the box. It has a 10MP selfie camera and a 12MP+12MP dual-camera setup. The phone also features a 120Hz display, an IP rating for dust and water resistance, 5G, LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, 15W fast charging, and fast Qi wireless charging.

Unlike previous generations, this time around people flocked to the higher-end models. BREAKING: Get your best look yet at the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic with this leak

It has been leaks galore recently. Samsung has a handful of new products that will be unveiled at its next Unpacked event that may take place on August 11. We have known for a while now that the company will be launching new Galaxy Watch smartwatches at the event.

Earlier reports have already revealed that multiple models will be on offer. Today’s leak gives us our best look yet at the model that’s apparently going to be launched as the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. We’ve seen the “Classic” branding being used in the past as well for Samsung’s smartwatches so it’s nothing new.

Samsung’s “Classic” smartwatches are coming back

It’s clear from the renders that the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will have the rotating bezel that Samsung fans love. It has two large buttons on the the right side which make it appear more like a conventional watch.

The accompanying report claims that the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will be offered in three sizes – 42mm, 44mm and 46mm. The case options for all three sizes include stainless steel and aluminum. It’s said that the smartwatch will be available in three colors – white, gray and black. You’ll be able to switch out the bands, as always, to customize the look of the watch. Any standard 20mm watch band can be used.

The display will have Gorilla Glass DX protection on the stainless steel and DX+ protection on the aluminum models. Other specs include water resistance up to 5ATM which makes it perfectly capable of joining you in the pool or the shower. It’s built to the MIL-STD-810G standard for added durability.

Samsung is no longer using Tizen for its smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will run on the new Wear platform that the company has developed with Google. It will also come with One UI Watch, the new custom skin for Samsung smartwatches. The company has already given us a first look at One UI Watch.

No word as yet on the pricing but expect it to start around $399 like its predecessor. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic may be unveiled at the Unpacked event that’s believed to be scheduled for August 11. It may be released on August 28, if you feel that the date displayed on the device in these renders is a hint.

Galaxy S21 Ultra just won a global award for being the best smartphone

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is a great device. It has the top position in our list of best Samsung phones. It’s certainly the Android flagship to beat for all OEMs this year. The handset has now picked up a new award that further highlights its exceptional nature.

Samsung certainly knows a thing or two about making award-winning phones. Many of the company’s flagship handsets have been similarly praised in the past as well.

Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G isn’t the only Samsung phone on the list

The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G has won the Best Smartphone category at the Global Mobile Awards during the Mobile World Congress 2021. The annual GLOMO awards highlight the hardware, software and services that enable innovation in the global mobile industry.

Having been named the Best Smartphone of the past year, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G was regarded by the category judges as the “best Android smartphone Samsung has ever made.” The device delivers exceptional performance backed by innovation across the board. It features a professional grade camera system, a brilliant display and a gorgeous contour cut design. The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is also the first Galaxy S series smartphone to support the S Pen.

While the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G won the coveted award, another Samsung device was also shortlisted for this category. The Galaxy S20 FE was shortlisted because of its incredible value for money. The handset offers flagship-level functionality in a more affordable package.

Samsung fans are now looking forward to the Galaxy S22 which is expected to kick things up a notch. Before it arrives, the Galaxy S21 FE is also on the horizon. Samsung is likely going to unveil the Galaxy S21 FE towards the end of this year.

Your new iPad will use a Samsung display in 2022

Samsung Display is the world’s biggest manufacturer of small-sized OLED display panels. It supplies OLED screens to various brands, including Apple. It is now being reported that Samsung’s OLED panels will debut on the iPad sometime next year. Samsung’s tablets have been using OLED screens for over a decade now (Galaxy Tab 7.7 released in 2011 was Samsung’s first OLED tablet), which makes Apple laughably late to the game.

According to a new report from TheElec, Apple will launch its first iPad with a 10.86-inch OLED display in 2022. The device will reportedly be the successor to the current-generation iPad Air. Samsung Display is expected to be the exclusive supplier of rigid OLED panels for next year’s iPad Air. In 2023, Apple will reportedly launch 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with OLED screens.

This development seems odd as Apple recently switched from regular LCDs to mini-LED displays with the iPad Pro (2021). The mini-LED technology offers various improvements over LCDs, including higher brightness, higher contrast ratio, and deeper blacks. However, OLED is considered to be superior technology due to perfect blacks and an infinite contrast ratio. The OLED technology has just one downside: potential burn-in problems.

Resisting the OLED technology for years, then switching to mini-LED displays, only to use radically different OLED displays after just one year seems strange, especially coming from Apple. Still, it’s great to know that Samsung has been using better display technology and has been ahead of Apple for ten years!

Galaxy A22 now available in India, but you should buy something else instead

Samsung seems to have quietly put the Galaxy A22 on sale in the Indian market. It was only a few days ago when pricing for the phone had leaked online, and Samsung India is now selling the device on its official website without making any official announcement. The Galaxy A22 is priced at INR 18,499 (roughly $250) in the country, is available in black and mint, and comes in a single variant that has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

If you glance at the Galaxy A22’s spec sheet, you will soon realize that no variant of the phone is worth purchasing, not when you consider you can buy the Galaxy M32 instead. The Galaxy A22 features a 6.4-inch HD+ 90Hz Super AMOLED display, octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 processor, a 48MP optically stabilized main rear camera accompanied by 8MP, 2MP, and 2MP ultra-wide, depth, and macro sensors, a 13MP selfie camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 15W fast charging. Out of the box, it runs Android 11 with One UI 3.1 Core.

Samsung Galaxy A22 4G

The only thing the Galaxy A22 has going for it compared to the Galaxy M32 is the OIS-equipped main camera. The M32, however, gets you a bigger battery (6,000 mAh) with faster charging (25W), a higher-resolution main camera (64MP vs 48MP), a 20MP selfie camera, a higher-resolution display (Full HD+ vs HD+), and the non-Core version of One UI 3.1, all for a lower price.

The 6+128GB Galaxy M32 will cost you INR 16,999 (roughly $230), and if you can make do with lower memory and storage, you can get the 4+64GB variant for a cool INR 14,999 (roughly $200). For more details, you can check out our Galaxy M32 review. And if you really love making bad decisions, well, then the Galaxy A22 can be purchased from Samsung India’s website at the link below (and likely at your nearest local retail store).

Samsung will launch the Galaxy F22 in India next month

Samsung has an odd habit of launching existing smartphones with different names in different markets, and sometimes in the same market (like it did with the Galaxy A02s in India). The company has already launched multiple such devices this year, including the Galaxy F62, Galaxy M62, Galaxy A02s, Galaxy F02s, and Galaxy M02s. It will soon unveil the Galaxy F22, which appears to be a rebranded Galaxy A22.

We had first confirmed the existence of the Galaxy F22 two months ago. The phone then appeared in the Bluetooth SIG database, revealing that it is a rebranded version of the Galaxy A22. Now, it is being reported that the Galaxy F22 will be launched in India in the second week of July 2021. The device could be priced below INR 20,000 (around $270) in the country because the Galaxy A22 is priced at INR 18,499. The company probably won’t launch the 5G version of the Galaxy A22 or the Galaxy F22 in India.

Galaxy F22 expected specs

The Galaxy F22’s specifications might be similar to the Galaxy A22. It means that the device could sport a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy F22 could come with a 13MP selfie camera and a 48MP+8MP+2MP+2MP quad-camera setup with Full HD video recording.

Samsung will most probably equip the Galaxy F22 with the MediaTek Helio G80 processor, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. It could feature a side-mounted fingerprint reader, dual-SIM card slot, 4G, GPS, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It could be powered by a 5,000mAh battery that is compatible with 15W fast charging.

Galaxy S21 FE to have a high-end feature that is missing on Galaxy S21 Ultra

The Galaxy S20 FE was a smash hit, and Samsung was expected to unveil its successor sometime in August. However, the Galaxy S21 FE’s launch was delayed to Q4 of 2021 due to chip shortages. Ahead of the launch, its design and some of its specs were leaked. It has now been revealed that the Galaxy S21 FE will come with a high-end feature that’s missing even on the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Samsung received the FCC certification for the Galaxy S21 FE (SM-G990U, SM-G990U1) earlier today, revealing the phone’s connectivity and charging features. According to the certification documents, the Galaxy S21 FE features 45W fast charging (11V, 2.25A or 21V, 2.1A). Samsung introduced the 45W fast charging feature with the Galaxy Note 10+, which was also used in the Galaxy S20 Ultra. However, the company left out 45W fast charging from the Galaxy S21 Ultra, so it is interesting to see that feature return with the Galaxy S21 FE.

It has also been confirmed that the Galaxy S21 FE features mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac/ax (Wi-Fi 6), Bluetooth 5.0 (with EDR and LE), NFC, and WPT (Wireless Power Transfer). The smartphone supports fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

Samsung is expected to equip the Galaxy S21 FE with a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It could have a 32MP selfie camera and a 12MP triple-camera setup at the rear with OIS and 4K 60fps video recording. The phone is equipped with the Snapdragon 888 processor, 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB internal storage, IP68 rating, stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint reader, and a 4,500mAh battery.

The new Google Messages feature Samsung Messages should copy right away

Google Messages is getting an excellent new feature to help users declutter their SMS inbox, one that we think Samsung should copy for its own Messages app as soon as possible. Google has officially announced some new Google Messages functionality for users in India, and one of those involves the option to automatically delete one-time passwords (OTPs) 24 hours after they’re received.

Two-factor authentication is pretty common across many services these days, including banking transactions and for logging in to various apps, which means you get a ton of one-time passwords that, unless you delete them right then and there after viewing them, continue to pile up as time goes on. That is exactly where the new Google Messages feature comes in. It can automatically delete messages it detects as OTPs 24 hours after they come in, making decluttering the inbox a lot less inconvenient and time-consuming.

For now, only Indian users are getting this new Google Messages update, but it will no doubt make its way to other markets over the coming weeks/months. Hopefully, Samsung can bring over something similar to Samsung Messages in the near future, though with the company now making Google Messages the default SMS app on Galaxy phones and tablets that launch running One UI 3.1 or later, it’s possible it isn’t too interested in adding new features to its own app.

Google Messages can be downloaded from Google Play here.

Samsung, take notes: Netflix can now play partially downloaded videos

The latest feature addition to the Netflix Android app is a good reminder of why the American company is still the number one on-demand video platform – particularly on mobile. Or why Samsung should be taking notes, if you will. Namely, the newest version of Netflix that just hit the Play Store lets you play content that hasn’t finished downloading. The UX line of thinking that resulted in this functionality was to minimize user disappointment in cases when their Netflix-watching habits have them hit their monthly data cap or they simply lose Wi-Fi signal.

“Minimizing user disappointment” doesn’t sound half bad, especially from the perspective of someone who gave Samsung TV Plus a go more than once… or so we hear.

Not that Samsung TV Plus is competing with Netflix, but isn’t this feature a no-brainer?

Not that there can be any like-for-like comparisons between a premium streaming service and a free Internet TV offering, of course. But Samsung’s obviously vying to become a bigger player in the content space. And the best way to do that is – by improving one’s content, no? Not just content-wise, but also in terms of technical availability. In fact, the latter is the only fair comparison when it comes to sizing up Samsung TV Plus against a behemoth of a video platform like Netflix.

In any case, the new version of Netflix has been rolling out since yesterday. If you’re still running an older build which hasn’t auto-updated in the meantime, head over to the app’s Play Store page and you should be able to download it manually.

Redmi Note 10 Pro receives an update enabling 2GB of virtual RAM

Many of the smartphone OEMs have introduced their own take on virtual RAM expansion so that low-memory phones can keep up with the ever increasing demand by apps. This boosts the multi-tasking capabilities and keeps more apps cached for faster launch times. And the Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G is now gaining that feature with an update. The OTA update is being distributed to Chinese unitz, for now, and when activated, the system allocates 2GB of the internal storage and adds it to the RAM when needed. So depending on your memory configuration - either 6 or 8GB, you get 8GB or 10GB of RAM...

Samsung updates One Hand Operation+ with a few improvements

One Hand Operation+ is one of the most widely used Good Lock modules. As the name suggests, the module makes it easier for users to control their smartphones with one hand. With smartphones now having displays larger than ever before, this is certainly a very useful module.

Samsung often releases new updates for these modules in order to bring additional features or just to make some minor improvements. It has released a new One Hand Operation+ update today.

One Hand Operation+ is getting a new update today

This isn’t a significant update by any stretch of the imagination. Today’s One Hand Operation+ update brings some bug fixes and stability improvements. It should improve the user experience over all as there should be fewer instances of the app running into any issues.

The last major update for One Hand Operation+ came about a year ago. That’s when the module was updated with support for One UI 3.0. That particular update also brought fixes specific to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Tab S7. Yes, Good Lock is also available on tablets now.

It’s quite possible that a major update will be released for Good Lock and all of its modules once One UI 4.0 comes. As it stands, we expect the One UI 4.0 beta to go live towards the end of this year. One UI 4.0 will be based on Android 12. As we’ve already reported, work on the Android 12 update for the Galaxy S21 series is now underway.

One Hand Operation+ version 4.6.15.0 is available now and you download it from our APK page.

Rumor: Xiaomi is working on a phone with a 192MP camera with 16-in-1 binning support

Samsung is working on a 200MP sensor and there is high probability that Xiaomi will be the first to use it. Little was known about either, but now leakster Digital Chat Station offers more details about the sensor and the phone itself. The sensor will have a resolution of 192MP and will support 16-in-1 pixel binning, which works out to exactly 12MP output resolution. With cropping instead of binning, this sensor should support native 4x zoom. And with many intermediate steps, it should offer high quality digital zoom from 1x to 4x. All that will require a lot of number-crunching power,...

Camera specs for Samsung’s powerful upcoming Galaxy M52 5G revealed

Samsung has what could be its most powerful Galaxy M series phone yet in the works. The Galaxy M52 5G was recently spotted with what looks like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G processor, and it is expected to be the second 5G-enabled Galaxy M smartphone Samsung will bring to the market.

Today, camera specs for the Galaxy M52 5G have been revealed by our friends over at GalaxyClub, and it seems things aren’t going to be very interesting — or unique — on that front compared to what we can expect from the phone in terms of pure processing power.

Galaxy M52 5G camera specs aren’t particuarly exciting

That’s because it seems the Galaxy M52 5G will have a camera setup similar to the one we see on the Galaxy A52. It’s already known that the M52 5G will have a 64MP main shooter, and we’re now learning that it will be accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide sensor and a 5MP macro sensor.

There’s no word on a fourth rear sensor, though we can expect a 5MP depth sensor to be part of the setup as well. As for selfies, those will apparently be handled by a 32MP sensor.  Again, nothing particularly interesting or new here, as these are pretty common camera specs for mid-rangers Samsung has launched in 2021.

As for other Galaxy M52 5G specs, those are currently a mystery, though it’s likely to share some of its hardware with the Galaxy A52. Whether or not that means the phone will have features like stereo speakers and IP67 water and dust resistance remains to be seen. Battery capacity is not known, either, but at least a 6,000 mAh cell is likely, considering the M51 has a 7,000 mAh battery and anything less than 6,000 mAh would be a huge downgrade.

Samsung promises five years of security updates to some Galaxy phones

Samsung is currently the best in the industry in terms of releasing Android software updates. Last year, the company had promised that it will release security updates to its flagship devices for up to four years. The South Korean firm has now announced that it will offer five years of security updates to some Galaxy smartphones.

The enterprise edition variants of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy XCover 5, and the Galaxy Tab Active 3 will get security and maintenance updates for five years from their launch date. All other enterprise devices from Samsung will get four years of updates.

Samsung’s enterprise edition Galaxy smartphones are designed for businesses. They can be configured with software and apps that enterprises approve. Such devices offer additional security measures and enterprise data management features, which means that they can be configured and managed by the company’s IT team. As usual, security updates for enterprise Galaxy smartphones will be released in a monthly or quarterly fashion, depending on the device.

Samsung might also release five years of security updates to consumer variants of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Tab Active 3, and the Galaxy XCover 5 as the company did something similar with the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S7, and the Galaxy S8 series in the past.

Kuo: iPhone 13 Pro series to have improved ultra-wide camera with AF

Apple has been bringing iPhones with ultrawide-angle cameras since 2019, and all of them had fixed focus. This will finally change with the iPhone 13 Pro series, which will have an improved ultrawide shooter with autofocus, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims. In his investor memo, Kuo revealed only the mightier iPhones will have the new camera in 2021, while the non-Pro models will need to wait until 2022 when all four models will get the updated ultrawide camera. Autofocus is better because the lens can be adjusted, resulting in crisper images in all scenarios. In fixed focus, the object...

First Exynos processor with AMD GPU beats iPhone 12 Pro Max in graphics performance

Samsung had announced earlier this year that it would soon bring a flagship Exynos processor with AMD’s Radeon GPU. While the company didn’t reveal what kind of performance improvement we can expect from the upcoming chipset, it was rumored that it could surpass the performance of the latest Apple chipset, the A14 Bionic. Now, the first real benchmark of the AMD GPU has appeared on the internet.

It is being reported by tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) that Samsung is currently testing an Exynos chipset with the AMD Radeon GPU and Cortex-A77 CPU cores. He posted a screenshot of the 3DMark graphics benchmarking app, and the Exynos processor with the AMD GPU seems to have scored 8,134 points in the Wild Life test with an average frame rate of 50fps. In comparison, the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s A14 Bionic chipset usually scores around 7,442 points with an average frame rate of 40fps.

Samsung Exynos AMD GPU Performance 3DMark Wild Life Benchmark Score Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Exynos 2100 GPU Performance 3DMark Wild Life Benchmark Score

The upcoming Exynos processor’s AMD GPU might handily beat Apple’s A14 Bionic chipset in graphics performance

While this is a very early test, and we don’t know what’s the thermal performance of the AMD GPU and how much it could throttle under sustained load, it is still refreshing to see an Android device beating Apple’s best smartphone chipset in graphics performance. Moreover, the final chipset (Exynos 2200) could offer even better graphics performance as it will most probably use ARM’s latest Cortex-X2 and Cortex-A710 CPU cores that are much faster than the Cortex-A77 cores used in this test.

Another thing to note is that the AMD GPU is still not as powerful as Apple’s M1 5nm chipset that is used in the iPad Pro (2021), MacBook Air (2020), and the MacBook Pro (Late 2020). The M1 chipset, which is meant for much bigger devices with more room for cooling and heat dissipation, scores around 17,000 points in 3DMark’s Wild Life graphics performance test. That makes the M1’s GPU twice as fast as AMD’s Mobile RDNA2 GPU that will debut in the Exynos processor next year.

Samsung Exynos AMD GPU Performance Comparison 3DMark Wild Life Benchmark Score

It also remains to be seen how power-efficient the AMD GPU is, and we will only get to know about its real-world performance sometime early next year with the launch of the Galaxy S22 series.
