Galaxy S10 5G will initially be available from Verizon exclusively

It was reported a few weeks ago that Samsung’s Galaxy S10 5G would initially be exclusive to Verizon Wireless in the United States. Verizon is one of the four large mobile networks in the United States that’s in the process of rolling out its commercial 5G network. The company officially confirmed its Galaxy S10 5G today and also confirmed exclusivity for Verizon Wireless.

That’s not to say that the 5G variant of Samsung’s latest flagship will not be available from any other carrier in the United States. It will arrive on the likes of AT&T and T-Mobile in due course but Verizon gets dibs on it.

Galaxy S10 5G will be a Verizon exclusive initially

Commerical 5G networks will be going live in a handful of markets across the globe. Carriers in Samsung’s home country of South Korea have their networks ready as well. It goes without saying that this device will be available in South Korea as well.

It obviously makes no sense for Samsung to offer the device in markets where no 5G networks exist. Therefore, the Galaxy S10 5G may only be offered in markets like the United States and South Korea initially. We will see its availability expand as more 5G networks go live across the globe. The Galaxy S10 5G has some major differences compared to the Galaxy S10+, including the fact that it does not have a microSD card slot.

Verizon hasn’t confirmed the pricing and precise availability information for the device as yet. Samsung has only said that it will be available from the country’s largest network “in the first half of 2019.”
