It was in December last year that we reported about the possible color options Samsung will release the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ with. We’re expecting purple to finally make it to Samsung’s flagship line, after rumors of a violet Galaxy S8 didn’t turn into reality, with black, gold, and blue as seen on the Note 8 coming along for the ride. But renders from case maker Poetic suggest that, like the Galaxy S8, the S9 and S9+ will launch in grey and silver as well.
Galaxy S9+ case renders show phone in silver and grey
Does this mean that the purple or blue Galaxy S9 or S9+ will be launched as exclusives a few months after the phones go on sale? It’s possible, and if these colors do get announced alongside the black, gold, silver, and grey variants, Samsung could limit their release to a few markets. It’s also possible the case maker is playing it safe right now and doesn’t have a complete idea of the final Galaxy S9 colors, therefore putting up renders of the device in colors we saw on the Galaxy S8. Also, Poetic has only published renders of the Galaxy S9+, so another possibility is that the two variants of the phone will offer different color choices.
It certainly would fit with the current belief that Samsung will keep the dual rear camera exclusive to the S9+; maybe giving Galaxy S9 owners some unique color choices will somehow ease their contention with getting lesser features? We’ll have to wait to find out, and with the official announcement date now revealed by Samsung, more information should be making its way online as we inch closer to the Galaxy S9’s launch.
