Samsung is about to unleash the low-cost Galaxy A22 on the budget market

Samsung will soon complement the Galaxy A series with a new budget smartphone called the Galaxy A22. It will be available in 4G and 5G configurations, and new evidence confirms that the 4G model, at least, is being prepared for an imminent release.

Support pages for the Galaxy A22 just went live at Samsung’s Russian portal, indicating that the budget phone will soon be released in Russia and possibly other neighboring countries across Europe and Asia.

As yet, support pages for the Galaxy A22 5G aren’t live, which could indicate that the 4G model will hit the market first and be followed by the 5G variant later down the line. Evidently, the availability of the 5G model will also differ by market.

Galaxy A22 quick spec recap

The 4G-enabled Galaxy A22 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset if recent benchmarks are accurate. At least one variant of the Galaxy A22 will have 6GB of RAM, and the phone will ship with Android 11 and One UI 3.1 out of the box.

The Galaxy A22 4G is essentially powered by the same chipset as the costlier Galaxy A32, however, the device is expected to take shortcuts in other areas such as cameras and the display.

With all the specs and an early retailer listing considered, Samsung is expected to sell the Galaxy A22 for less than €250.
