As you’re probably aware, Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman and CEO Kim Ki-nan spoke about the company’s vision for 2021 earlier today, detailing some of the key changes Samsung has to commit to in order to prepare for the future. In short, Samsung wants to become a company that puts customers at the very center.
But beyond the customer side of things, Samsung also vowed to actively respond to social demand for prevention of industrial accidents. And according to reports from the local media, both Kim Ki-nan and chairman Lee Jae-yong together with a number of other high-ranking executives have visited the Pyeongtaek semiconductor plant in the Gyeonggi Province on the first working day of 2021.
Taking a leap towards a new Samsung in 2021
The executives have reportedly visited the P2 line where mass production of 16GB LPDDR5 DRAM began in August. They have also toured the construction site for the P3 plant that’s poised to become a total semiconductor factory before 2022.
The executives have attended a ceremony where new foundry equipment was brought in, as seen in the featured image above. The scion also discussed mid and long-term semiconductor plans with top executives, and one of the main topics of conversation was the installation of additional extreme litography equipment.
The Vice Chairman’s visit to Pyeongtaek reflects Samsung’s high ambitions in the semiconductor space. The scion reportedly wants the chipmaking unit to take a leap towards a new Samsung in 2021 and to make a new legend in the system-on-system chip market.
