We had exclusively reported last week that Samsung is developing an S-branded version of the Galaxy M01 with slightly better specifications. The phone could be launched as the Galaxy M01s, and it will feature 32GB of inbuilt storage space. It was also being expected that it could feature a more powerful processor and higher capacity battery than the Galaxy M01. However, it looks like Samsung is upgrading its battery.
The Galaxy M01s passed through TÜV Rheinland’s battery safety certification in Japan, revealing that it will feature a 3,900mAh battery, similar to the Galaxy M01. Samsung will market it as a 4,000mAh battery. The entry-level smartphone had also passed through the Wi-Fi certification process last month, revealing that it was running Android 9.0. However, knowing that the Galaxy M01 was launched recently with Android 10 out of the box, it is possible that Samsung will launch the Galaxy M01s with Android 10 and One UI 2 as well.
The upcoming affordable smartphone from Samsung had appeared in Geekbench’s database last month, and it was revealed that the phone could use the MediaTek Helio P22 processor (MT6762V/WB) and 3GB RAM. The phone will also be available in two color options: Blue and Grey. Details about other specifications of the Galaxy M01s are scarce right now, but we should know more by the time Samsung starts teasing the phone’s launch.
Samsung is also working on a trimmed-down version of the Galaxy M01, and it could be launched as the Galaxy M01 Core. The phone recently received Wi-Fi certification, revealing that it runs Android 10 and has a dual-SIM card slot.
