Since the launch of the Galaxy Note 9 and Tab S4, Samsung has been trying to position them as great gaming devices. It all started with Fortnite making its Android debut as a timed-exclusive on select Galaxy devices. To attract Fortnite fans, Samsung offered free in-game currency on select purchases and an exclusive Galaxy skin to Fortnite players on Galaxy phones and tablets.
Samsung followed the Fortnite exclusivity with a Fortnite contest for the Galaxy Note 9 and Tab S4 users in the US in collaboration with the streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. The company has now come up with a new Fornite-themed ad titled ‘Samsung Galaxy: Level Up’ featuring Ninja and rapper Travis Scott. While the video doesn’t explicitly mention it, the ad appears to be for the same contest announced last month.
More about Fortnite than Samsung’s Galaxy devices
The ad tells the story of a young Fortnite player getting a chance to play the game with Ninja and Travis Scott. Interestingly, the commercial seems to be focusing more on Fortnite than Samsung’s Galaxy devices. That seems a bit odd since Fortnite is no longer exclusive to the Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
With all this focus on Fortnite and its streamers, one has to wonder if Samsung is overestimating the appeal of Fortnite to sell its devices. You can watch the ad below and let us know what you think about Samsung’s Fortnite fixation in the comment section below.
