The Galaxy Note 9 rumors won’t end until the device is officially unveiled so we can expect to hear a lot more of them in the days to come. The latest out of China suggests that Samsung is developing a couple of new features which will be introduced with its flagship phablet. It’s also claimed that the handset is going to have a significantly bigger battery than its predecessor. Now that’s something Note fans will certainly be interested in.
Galaxy Note 9 features
China-based leaker Ice Universe, who has been right on some accounts in the past, claims that Samsung is developing a new S Pen for the Galaxy Note 9. That’s hardly surprising given that the S Pen has been a permanent fixture on Galaxy Note handsets for years.
What the rumor doesn’t mention is just how the S Pen is going to be improved. The Galaxy Note 8’s stylus brought new software features such as Live Message, PENUP and Translate. Perhaps the Galaxy Note 9’s stylus will get sensitivity improvements and new software features. There was also a rumor that the next S Pen could even have an integrated microphone so that the stylus could be used to communicate in a phone call.
Samsung is also said to make user interface tweaks which might make the Samsung Experience skin on the Galaxy Note 9 lighter and less resource intensive. This should make the device feel snappier overall. Bixby 2.0, the next major update for Samsung’s AI assistant, may be onboard as well. Actually, it will be, as Bixby 2.0 for Galaxy Note 9 was confirmed by Samsung’s CEO himself.
The leaker also claims that the Galaxy Note 9 is going to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. This is a Galaxy Note 9 rumor that has been done to death. There’s no concrete information right now to suggest that the next flagship phablet will indeed feature this component. Many would rather bet on Samsung introducing it with the Galaxy S10 first.
The Galaxy Note 8 has a 3,300mAh battery. Since Samsung retained the 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh batteries from the Galaxy S8/S8+ for the Galaxy S9/S9+ respectively, one would expect the company to do the same for the Galaxy Note 9 as well. That may not be the case as it’s claimed that the Galaxy Note 9 will feature a larger 3,850mAh battery. Last but certainly not the least, Samsung may also offer a new color option with the Galaxy Note 9, it might be a subtle shade of brown.
It’s difficult to say right now how much of this is actually going to be true. We won’t really find out until the second half of this year but we can count on hearing a lot more rumors about the Galaxy Note 9 in the weeks to come.
