This year, there’s noticeable difference between the smaller and larger versions of Samsung’s new flagships as far as the specs and feature list are concerned. The Galaxy S9+ gets dual rear cameras and 6GB of RAM, two important features that the Galaxy S9 misses out on, making it much less of an upgrade over the Galaxy S8 compared to the S9+.
That’s not to say the Galaxy S9 doesn’t come with features not seen before on a Samsung flagship. Both models come with stereo speakers, something consumers have long demanded, a rear camera capable of shooting at different apertures and recording “super” slow-motion videos at 960 frames per second, and the ability to create emojis based on the user’s face and expressions.
Features carried forward from last year include the beautiful Super AMOLED Infinity displays, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, IP68 water and dust resistance, iris and facial recognition (which now work together), Bluetooth 5.0, and at least 64GB of internal storage. The battery sizes haven’t changed, but the Exynos 9810/Snapdragon 845 SoC powering the S9 and S9+ are more efficient; Android 8.0 Oreo is more efficient than Nougat as well, which means we can expect to see some improvement in battery life compared to the Galaxy S8 and S8+.
Galaxy S9 vs Galaxy S9+: Which one do you like?
But, again, the Galaxy S9 misses out on two major features, which means the decision isn’t solely going to rest on whether you need a compact smartphone. Yes, a full review is needed before anyone can decide which of the Galaxy S9 duo they would want to purchase, but at the moment, which handset would you want to pick up?
Vote in the poll below to let us know, and also leave a comment to tell us why you’d pick one over the other. Of course, if neither the S9 or S9+ have impressed you, let us know your thoughts on that as well!
