The Galaxy J7 Nxt, which launched in India earlier this year as a slightly enhanced version of the Galaxy J7 (2016), has been upgraded with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, with the new variant now on sale from offline stores. In addition to the increased memory specs, the 3GB/32GB variant comes loaded with “augmented reality stickers” in the camera, which suggests it runs Android 7.1.1, or at least a newer version of Samsung’s user interface.
The upgraded model also comes preloaded with Samsung Pay Mini. Samsung Pay Mini is a stripped down version of Samsung Pay, and it only supports wallets like Paytm and Mobikwik in addition to the country’s UPI payment service. It was also updated with support for bill payments. Samsung Pay Mini was already available for the J7 Nxt and other budget phones, so the only difference here seems to be the fact that it now comes installed out of the box.
No other hardware upgrades
The spec sheet remains the same in other departments. There’s a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.6GHz octa-core processor, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, 5-megapixel front camera, 4G LTE support, a 3,300 mAh battery. The phone’s priced at Rs. 12,990, which is only slightly higher than the original Galaxy J7 Nxt.
